The Age Cafe: Creating Community through Conversations that MatterLearn more and experience The Age Café! The Age Café provides an opportunity to explore topics relevant to anyone who is aging. Facilitated small group breakouts serve as a forum for open discussion to share thoughts, feelings and personal stories. Listen to others, connect diverse perspectives, discover patterns and insights and share in collective discoveries on how our world is shaped by our experiences of aging.
Presenters:Kera Magarill is an Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialist with Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services. She has been transforming views of aging since she was a teenager leading "cello and sing along's" in memory cares throughout Denver, Colorado. She studied Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Music Therapy at Colorado State University, studied and taught Gerontology with The Metropolitan State University of Denver and earned a Masters Degree in Human Service with the University of the Rockies. Kera has worked across the long term care continuum serving individuals and families living with dementia until her own family stepped into the caregiving role when her Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 while Kera was working as an Early Stage Coordinator with the Alzheimer's Association. This experience has further shaped a creativity, joy and connection to dementia and aging that she aims to share in her life's work. Beth Gilbert is a Community Engagement Librarian at Beaverton City Library and the staff liaison for the Beaverton Committee on Aging. She is enthusiastic about services and programming for older adults Intended Audience:This presentation is intended for aging network professionals, volunteers and community leaders. *Please note that this event will not be recorded.
