About the panelists:
Ruby Haughton-Pitts is AARP Oregon State Director. Ruby brings both direct and man agement experience with advocacy, outreach, communications, and strategic p lanning within AARP as well as with various nonprofits, consulting firms, a nd corporations. Prior to joining the AARP Oregon team, Ruby served as Dire ctor of Outreach and Advocacy at AARP Illinois. Before that she spent many years in Oregon including as Director of Legislative and Public Affairs at CareOregon, Vice President of External Affairs for OCHIN, and Vice Presiden t of Government Relations for U.S. Bank. Ruby also served as a member of AA RP Oregon’s Executive Council before moving to Illinois and was member of I llinois' volunteer leadership before being hired as staff. Ruby serves on t he Midwest Asian Health Association Board of Directors and was recently app ointed to Governor Brown’s Sustainable Health Care Cost Growth Target Imple mentation Committee. She is a proud graduate of the University of Oregon. span>
Dr. Derenda Schubert is Exe cutive Director of Bridge Meadows. Sh e is a licensed psychologist with extensive professional experience counsel ing children and families and creating, managing, and evaluating foster car e, mental health and developmental disability programs. Additionally, she h as conducted research in the areas of developmental disabilities and childr en’s mental health. She has held several executive leadership roles includi ng Chief Operating Officer and Associate Director of Training at two of Ore gon’s largest child and family mental health agencies.
Dr. Schubert is an intergenerational champion, lead ing the team that created Bridge Meadows, advocating nationally for interge nerational solutions to complex social challenges, spearheading strategic p lanning and shaping Bridge Meadows’ expansive vision for the future. Dr. Sc hubert speaks locally and nationally on the topics of children’s mental hea lth, community building, and intergenerational living.
Under D r. Schubert’s leadership, Bridge Meadows has received national and internat ional recognition from the following organizations: The National Home Build ers Association; Angel in Adoption TM by Senator Wyden; recognized as the 2 014 award winner for the Intergenerational Excellence Prize by The Eisner F oundation; winner of the 2017 Fostering Innovation Award from Corporate Liv eWire; ranked fourth among the top 10 Most Admired Non-profits by Portland Business Journal. In 2016, Dr. Schubert was honored as Extraordinary Execut ive Director by Portland Monthly Magazine and recognized as a 2017 Woman of Influence by the Portland Business Journal. She is an American Leadership Forum Senior Fellow and an Encore Public Voices Fellow.
Dr. Schubert is a graduate of Purdue University and DePaul University. Her passion for m aking the world a better place is inspired by her own children and the love of her grandmothers.
Edmo nd Jensen is the former president and CEO of Visa International in San Francisco and former Vice Chairman of U.S. Bancorp. While now retired, he was formerly active on many civic boards in Portland and San Francisco. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Health Group at UC SF, and the Providence St Vincent Hospital Foundation. He chairs the Provid ence Ethics Center Board of Advisors. His community interests include healt hcare and minority youth development.
