Citizen Brain: Brain Health Through Comedy and Empathy

Session Facilitator: Melissa Cannon, PhD

  • Josh KornbluthSenior Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health, Global Brain Health Institute

At the Global Brain Health Institute, Josh Kornbluth immersed himself in the study of brain disease and wondered if our society was suffering from political dementia. The discovery of the “empathy circuit” in the brain might be the cure. Can a neurotic storyteller, who flunked every science class in college, spark a science-based revolution of empathy?

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will know about the "empathy circuit" in the brain and will have learned an exercise to strengthen their own empathy circuits.
  • Participants will see connections between brain science and social justice.
