Practical Solutions in Healthy Nutrition for Older Adults

Good nutrition is key for older adults' health and wellbeing. Things change as we age. Oregon-based nutritionist Dr. Kathy Humphries will review some basics of nutrition, food, and aging. She will report out on a recent Oregon survey of diverse older adults and their nutrition concerns, priorities, and needs for excellent nutritional health. Some solutions and supports for individuals, care providers, families, and healthcare professionals will be presented. You'll eat it up.

Presenters:

Kathy Humphries, PhD is a nutritionist who received her PhD from the University of California, Davis, and is a public health professional, and creator of innovative nutrition programs for vulnerable populations. She is co-owner of Good Nutrition Ideas, a local small business that addresses Research and Development needs in nutrition for older adults and people with various disabilities.

Bethany Rigles, PhD is a sociologist, specializing in health and well-being, especially related to the experience of those at the intersection of race/ethnicity and disability. She has over 15 years of experience working with vulnerable communities in research and educational settings. Her goal is to bring people together, elevating community voices and strengths, to solve individual- and systems-level health problems.
